Read your website and many things I agree with you. I was the sae situation for 4 years. I had heard a lot about Subway and how good it was and I even changed my careers (from an IT professional) to own a Suway. But as you wrote there were no profits and I went into big debt as my expenses were still there. Luckily I went back into my career and still own the store but it makes very little money. U r right one cannot survive on a Subway store!!

Thank You for your honesty! I too am a IT professional and was going to open a Subway franchise, but I think I need to spend money on more IT certifications and obtaining stronger contracts.

Well I am still thinking about the possibility. It all depends on your perspective of handling money, franchising seems like valuable option but I need further financial advises before making any decision.

My wife and I have owned a Subway for 2 yrs now (owner financed) I also have a full time job. If you can do it Open your own deli. especially if your going to run it yourself. They have so many restrictions and things yo have to buy from (subway partners) its mind boggling. I pay 1500 a week in franchise and advertising fees. And because I only have one store I have very little say in how the money gets spent. Customers come into our store because of the Cstr service. I guarantee if I took that subway sign down I would not lose a penny. I have to buy tomatoes that IPC considers gold standard for the way there handled and cleaned. I went to market with a local produce shop owner and he showed me they do the exact same thing subways supplier does but I have to pay roughly 10.00 more per case for unappealing looking tomatoes
